Des has published 2 full-length novels in the Porter & The Gliss series (with the third and final instalment due this autumn) as well as two illustrated novellas - one aimed at teenagers, the other accompanying the Romano Chorizo albums available on the music page.

He is currently working on a media memoir of some of the things he saw in Fleet Street and in Network TV. It wasn’t all good.

You can click on any of the titles above to find out more and get links to Amazon.
I can say this though: the first 3, the Porter & The Gliss trilogy, are three of the funniest, most exciting, dark page-turners you’ll ever read. My mum says it would be stupid to say that, but Davina McCall told everyone recently,

”You have to sit at the front of the class.”

That self-recommendation is me, not only sitting at the front of the class, but copying the class swot’s homework,
and giving the teacher an apple for good measure.

PS. They are quite good though.

What Other People - not my mum - Are Saying

“An unexpectedly witty delight. The first of many, I hope.”

— Christopher Fowler (author of the Bryant & May mysteries)

“This is such a brilliant and entertaining mystery book and I’m really looking forward to reading the next in the series. The writing is sharp and the premise of the story is really, really clever. Not just a straightforward cold case!”

— Irial O’Farrell (Amazon customer)

“It is a really excellent book. Des Burkinshaw has created an amazing set of characters – not the least of which is The Gliss; a ghost-like entity sent to get Porter Norton to atone for a family curse that has seen five generations of males in his family die at their own hands. With the help of The Gliss, Porter can now see and hear the dead if he’s close to their remains, and has to use this ‘gift’ to clear up past injustices if he wants anything even resembling a pleasant life.”
