Our stated mission is to persuade Ringo to come on and talk about how he could not have founded the Lotus Foundation,
and Paul could not have become the world’s most famous vegetarian - without the Beatles giving them a platform.
Neither Paul nor Ringo have so far appeared on a fan podcast, so join us in trying to make that happen - and have some fun along the way.
Let us know if you want to join that particular campaign!

  • To kick off season 1, Mark Hooper and Des Burkinshaw discuss the origins of Without the Beatles - and throw in teaser quotes from some of the guests already recorded.

Also includes a short film featuring the Beatles' journey of Jaime Noel, a music producer from Miami, whose dream is to work in Abbey Road.

  • Motorhead frontman, the late great Lemmy Kilminster, gave us a lengthy filmed interview a few years before he died, recounting his visits to the Cavern and told us why Paul McCartney is a genius. This interview is entirely unheard.

Also includes a short film featuring the Beatles' journey of Liverpudlian songwriter Paul Mannion.

  • Lol became famous as singer and songwriter of 10cc, but went on to make a bigger dent in popular culture as one of the most important promo directors of the 80s. Lol went on to work with Paul, George and Ringo and you don't want to miss this hilarious account of those years. Kevin Godley, Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart of 10cc have also been interviewed.

Also includes a short film with Mark featuring the Beatles' journey of author, Dave Bedford - the man who was prescribed the Beatles when he became ill.

  • The film director and member of Monty Python traces his Beatles' influence back to the day he stood outside their New York Hotel room in 1964 filming their window with his 8mm camera. And then, 14 years later, he provided George's Handmade Films with its biggest hit, Time Bandits.

An uncompromising interview with one of cinema's greats, followed up in a later episode by an interview with Sir Michael Palin and the late great Neil Innes, frequent Python collaborator, and the man behind the greatest Beatles' tribute of all, The Rutles.

Also includes a short film featuring the Beatles' journey of Annie Shepperd OBE, a key figure in the greening of UK business, and former CEO of Salix, once voted best company to work for by the Sunday Times.

  • The most famous designer of the 60s, famous before the Beatles, Mary Quant was there to see the impact the Beatles - and their partners - had on the Swinging Sixties.

Mary died in 2023, but this previously unseen interview with Des captures her memories and carefree spirit.

Also includes a short film featuring the Beatles' journey of John Barry/Mama Cass biographer, Eddi Feigel.

Also includes a short film featuring Summer Litchfield, daughter of One Hand Clapping director, David Litchfield - recalling her childhood hanging out with the McCartneys and Wings.

  • Under wraps - like all good Christmas presents, but if you fancy an alternative to the King's Speech, this could be it.

About your co-hosts

I’ve seen The Beatles as teachers/mentors since I
was a kid. But as a writer,
I do think they have the best plotline I’ve ever read.
Looking forward to exploring this world with Mark and our brilliant guests.

I can’t remember a time The Beatles weren’t in my life or soundtracking my day. The first time I was conscious of them was hearing my dad sing Two of Us with his friend at a barbecue.
